One more week until my babies go to their rescue in Colorado. I'm so happy for them! It will be their best Thanksgiving ever I'm sure!
Yesterday I spoke too soon with Daisy. That afternoon she attacked Macy. Daisy had been chewing on a bone and Macy walked over to where she was at and she was very protective and then just snapped. Both dogs are fine though. At least she picked the most submissive dog to go after. Princess and Slick probably wouldn't have been as forgiving as Macy. Soo I'll give it a few days and try again, this time I'll make sure no food, bones or other toys are out.
Delilah is doing great. She is still sleeping in our room as she will not sleep in her kennel. She hasn't been getting up to go potty at 4am though anymore. This morning she didn't wake up until about 6:30 woohoo! I got to sleep :)
Tiger, is doing well. He is being really playful ( and a little rough!!) He really doesn't want anything to do with the other dogs when he's inside. He just goes to the door to try to get away from them. Not aggressive at all. Outside, he's kind of a brat. He's been jumping, biting (playful) and today I had him outside for about 10 minutes, peaked out there and he was tearing my garden liner out of the ground! He needs lots and lots of toys at all times! Still going to his kennel like a champ though! :)
I know I promised pictures, I'm off tomorrow and will hopefully get to it then. 12 hr work days are not blogger friendly.

11-16-11
Sorry it's been so long! Crazy busy weekend. LOTS has happened.
All the dogs have moved inside because of the cold weather. The garage is always warmer than outside, but still pretty chilly when it's 30degrees outside!! I wouldn't want to sleep out there, so why would I make them?
The first night was great. Princess slept in our room and the rest of the dogs all slept in their kennels downstairs.
The next night....not so great. Delilah has definitely found her voice box! She will just scream if you leave her in her kennel. The worst scream you have ever heard. She can't hear herself (lucky for her!). It's pretty much unbearable, but I think it's because when they are deaf (I've been reading a lot about deaf dogs) they bond with their human and they have really bad anxiety if they can't see you or don't know where you are. We have one really big kennel and I put both girls in it, just to see if maybe having her sister next to her would help, nope.
So, she has been sleeping on a dog bed in our bedroom on my side. And when she wakes up I usually throw my arm or leg over the side of the bed so she can see that I'm still there. She licks me and then goes back to bed. Only bad thing, is she gets up to go potty at 4am....however, today it was 5am...we're getting better. I am not morning person!!
We've been working on socializing Daisy and that's been going great. Actually, today she's in the house (off a leash) and hasn't growled once. Yay! Now if I can only get her to leave the rabbits alone outside!!! She loves being upstairs with the rest of us and took to lounging in the dog bed with a bone (like my other lazy dogs) right away. Like "oh, thats what they do here...ok"
Tiger, onry boy! He does great going in and out for potty breaks and back to his kennel without me having to tell him too. He's been in the house with out a leash as well and doesn't have any aggression issues, he does however feel very overwhelmed by all the sniffing noses and just put his head on the door like "LET ME OUT!!" or just goes and sits in his kennel to get away from it all. Very well mannered inside. Outside, not so much. He has started really jumping and nipping at your hands....I'm trying to replace my hand with a toy everytime. Making him sit and telling him no, then handing him a toy to play with. *sigh* we're working on it. He's too big to be doing that, I would hate for him to do that to a small child. Even though he's only being playful, that could really scare someone. So hopefully, we'll get him to stop that soon.
I do have some more pictures, I'll post later today. Hopefully you'll be able to tell they've gained more weight!

Day 5 *11-9-11*
Hello!
Today has been a great day! Didn't start out to well, but ended up great.
After letting the dogs out this morning to potty, I put them back in their kennels so I could clock in for work. I would have left them out, but it was rainy, cold and they just can't seem to leave the rabbits alone :(
I heard awful cries coming from the garage it wasn't an "I want out, you left me :( " cry...it was different, so I ran to go check on them. Delilah had somehow pulled part of her cage door in her kennel and got her head stuck trying to get out...it was really tight! I had to undo the sides of the kennel to practically take the whole top off to get her out!
On the upside, she is fine! She got a little scratch under her eye, but nothing big. I brought her inside, wiped her down with a wet rag and some good smelling dog shampoo and she has spent the whole day inside and has done EXCELLENT! She's fine will all the dogs, even if they are all in her face at once checking her out. She met Zeus (our smallest cat) and did fine....she kinda had the "I might eat you look" but never snapped at her. Zeus LOVED her and was weaving in and out of her legs...lol she might have a death wish?
She sniffed the other cats and was just interested in smelling them. I let her off the leash and she has done fine. No chasing, no growling, not scared, not potty accidents, just wonderful. :)
I told Luke we need to adopt her instead (she's my fav if I haven't mentioned it before!) and he said "no". I asked why? And he said, because she doesn't listen. LOL Well duh!! She's deaf! :) He knew that and was joking of course....

Tiger and Daisy are doing well today. Daisy and I are going to have to work on kenneling. She's been really hesitant today, but the whole deal w/ Delilah may have scared her. Hopefully if it's not raining in the morning I'll introduce her to Princess and see how she does.
I think I'll also leash walk Tiger through the house tomorrow again.
Going to put Delilah in Princess's kennel tonight and Princess can sleep in our room. She has a big metal kennel and Delilah wont be able to hurt herself in it.
I didn't get anymore pics of Tiger or Daisy today because of the rain.
I do however have a video of Tiger and his Tail chasing!

Day 4 *11-8-11*
Not a lot to write about today. We didn't play much because of the rain :(
Still no accidents in their kennels.
Getting better about not whining in their kennels, but if they hear a noise they will bark...a lot.
Tiger tried eating a pumpkin today...crazy dog.
Daisy is doing really well about getting in her kennel. She's also been pretty clingy lately, more than she usually is. She just wants lots and lots of lovin's ! And I don't mind given them to her. Such a doll. If only we could get her better socialized. Working on it though. Luke had Princess outside last night with Tiger, Daisy and Delilah. He kept Daisy on a leash and she did fine as long as Princess wasn't face to face with her. Just takes time...
Delilah is doing great. She was a little more hesitant to go in her kennel today each time. I think she missed her play time. Stinkin' rain!
I did let them all play in the garage together for awhile.
I tried to walk Tiger in the house today with our dogs out...he didn't want any part of it. He turned back around and looked at me like "Can I please go back to the garage and just chase my tail by myself???"
Maybe next time? Think I'll try Delilah tomorrow.
And here's the video I tried to post last night, but I guess maybe I wasn't being patient enough?! :)

Day 3 *11-7-11*
Daisy's bleeding did stop shortly after it started yesterday. They are all definitely coming out of their shell and wanting to play more. Daisy and Delilah were racing around the yard this morning chasing each other. Their tails were wagging at about 50mph :)
Yesterday I leashed walked Tiger through the house while the other dogs were in their kennels. Him and Willow (our cat) met face to face, he didn't seem to mind her at all. Wasn't even interested in checking her out. And he didn't mark anything in the house, another plus! Yay! Last night when I let them all out to potty he was too busy re-arranging the dog house that he didn't eat. So I let them all back in the garage but left his kennel open so he can finish his food. I peaked at him once and he was chasing his tail by the door. Went out there to get something out of the freezer and realized he was actually having a hay day...literally. We had half a bale of straw by the back door, apparently he didn't think chasing his tail was that fun unless he was doing it in a big pile of hay :) I tried to get a picture of him in the middle of it, but he thought he was in trouble so he wouldn't come out of his kennel. Silly boy :)
The Mess:
Delilah was a fetching queen yesterday! She is getting so good at it. I'm not for sure she knows she even has a bark. She's very quiet :)
None of the dogs have had any accidents in their kennels. They are also getting very good about going back into their kennel without having to be guided in. We're working on not jumping up on people right now. I think I'll introduce Slick to Tiger today and see how it goes. He's been so anxious to meet them!
Here's a fun video of Tiger playing from yesterday and chasing his tail :) Too cute! I move the camera a lot. Sorry, don't get motion sickness!!
I'll post more today! :)
Here's More!
Another good day. They are starting to play a lot more and eating more. I'm trying to teach them how to chew their food, they seems to literally just inhale it.
Tiger met Slick today. I would say it went well. There was no growling involved. Tiger really didn't want anything to do with him. He kept wanting to walk away. It was a short meeting. I'm not for sure he feels safe and confident here yet. Until he does, we'll keep the meetings short and sweet.
Here's a fun video from today, you get to see them playing ball, tiger chasing his tail in the dog house, his favorite activity, and Ms. Daisy inhaling her food. You can see what I'm talking about! Oh, we're also working on "sit"!
,,,Well, it won't let me upload it for some reason tonight :( I will try tomorrow!

Day 2 11-6-11
We're still doing good!
Tiger is loving the fresh air outside. He thinks he wants to spend the night in the dog house in the backyard instead of his kennel, but I don't think he knows how cold it gets outside. :)
Daisy is getting better about not barking in her kennel. At first she would whine/howl for about 10 minutes when you put her in there. She would really sound like she was dying lol, but that has seemed to stop today. Also noticed this morning when checking their stitches that she is bleeding some. Not for sure what she did...there wasn't any blood in the kennel. Bandaged her up and will check it in a couple hours to make sure she's not bleeding through. If so, probably going to have to make a trip to the vet. Poor girl.
Delilah is doing excellent. She is loving the back yard. She also is beginning to play more and more with the toys. She loves her squeaker toy and is playing fetch like a champ. We don't throw it very far...just about 15ft. We'll be able to play more once her surgery site heals.
I absolutely cannot wait to give them baths!! They are going to look gorgeous and smell much much better.
Life is good :)

Day 1- 11-5-2011
Dogs are adapting pretty well. They've learned that when they go back in their kennel it's not the end of the world. They will be able to come back out soon. They all seem to be potty trained. We haven't had any accidents in their kennels. Unfortunately, since they had fleas so bad and haven't had a bath....possibly ever....they've had to stay out in the garage. We have a heater out there for them and straw in their kennels. They've been doing fine with that. They had flea medication put on the first night, so those should be done. Now we just have to wait for their surgery incisions to heal so they can get a back and come inside.
Tiger was introduced to Daisy and Delilah today. They did very well. Seem to be able to coexist without any issues. Although they came from the same owners, they were kept in different locations so we were unsure of how they would act around each other at first. No problems though.
Tiger was then introduced to Princess, our brindle pit bull. They got along great! They didn't get to hand out with each other for very long. I know they would like to play, but that has to wait until they are done healing from surgery as well. About 1 more week :)
Macy got introduced to Daisy & Delilah (aka Thunder & Lightning). Delilah was great, she didn't mind her at all. However, Daisy was a little protective and snarled a bit at Macy. Again, the meeting didn't last long. We don't want to overwhelm them. We'll try again in a day or two.
Here are some videos:
Tiger. I did just wake up when I took this, so please don't judge :)
The Girls:
Last Video:
Daisy discovered the rabbits :)
Daisy must be a Pointer Pit Bull :)
Sweetheart Daisy:
My Girl Delilah:
Things I've noticed about their personalities thus far:
Tiger: Very sweet, very calm. Favorite activity: chasing his tail when he's in the kennel or dog house :)
His whole kennel shakes back and forth because he's running in circles as fast as he can to catch it. He's also potty trained. And will go in his kennel on command.
Daisy (pink collar): Very sweet, very outgoing and curious. Very interested in the rabbits :) She's getting better about going in her kennel. You have to lead her to it, but then she walks in on her own and waits for her treat. She doesn't seem that amused about the other dogs, but we're working on it.
Delilah (black collar): Very sweet and seems to be the leader when it comes to her sister even though she's deaf. She likes to play ball, is potty trained and also getting better about going back into her kennel. You still have to work at it with her, but we'll get there. She loves to play ball and is learning how to fetch very well! She doesn't stray to far from me. She's doing okay with the other dogs, didn't show any aggression.
It all takes time. After we get them used to the dogs which may take a week or two, next is the cats. Keep your paws crossed!!! :)

Pit Bulls
This blog is going to be for followers who want to keep track of how the three Pit Bulls that I rescued are doing. Anyone else who follows this blog, I hope you see how you can make a huge difference in these dogs lives if you do the same. They all deserve better.
A few weeks ago there was a drug bust in Quincy, IL and this unnamed person had 8 Pit Bulls that got seized. Currently there were only 6 signed over to the county shelter. These 6 dogs were very sweet and very scared. Since there are so many "unwanted" dogs in this area (and all over the world) they only have 3 days to get adopted before they are euthanized.
Photos flew around facebook pleading for adoptions/rescues. Day 2, no one had spoken up yet. After no sleep and tears, my Fiance agreed that we can adopt 1 and foster 2. So..we can save half! I knew I was going to be torn when I got there. How can we just CHOOSE 3? I didn't want to play God. Delightfully, when we got there another rescue/foster home was there to take the other three. And all the dogs were saved.
The first one we got was Tiger. He is a Brindle Male, and as long as everything works out, he will be the one that we will adopt. He is 1yr old and weighed 49lbs when we brought him home. He could easily take on another 10lbs. He's very skinny.
How can you resist that sad face? We couldn't. And he is as sweet as those eyes are sad.
The next one we adopted (my personal favorite) is Lightning:
She is very very sweet. She is also deaf, which makes me love her even more. I think she will be a challenge to train, but it's very doable and I'm up for it. She is very attentive and doesn't stray to far from me. She has a very playful personality and LOVES to be petted. She is also 1yr old and has some weight to gain! <3
The next dog we rescued and are fostering is Lightning's sister, Thunder.
Thunder is a very sweet girl like her sister Lightning. She can hear and is very playful as well. She is very protective of her sister. Although, Lightning seems to be the leader of the two.
I think I'm going to change their names, they don't know their current names yet. So from now on in this blog. Lightning will be Delilah, and Thunder will be Daisy :)
The way you can tell them apart by looks is Delilah (aka Lightning) has pink on her nose and Daisy (aka Thunder) does not. Her nose is all black.
The other three that got rescued are Snow, the momma, she was 8yrs old. Queenie a brown female, with black muzzle. She was 5yrs old. And Bandit, Daisy & Delilah sister.
